The appalling exaggeration over North Sea tax revenues perpetrated by Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon in their desperate attempt to get us to back their plan to break up Britain has been laid bare for all to see.

In one of the biggest calumnies ever attempted in British politics they overestimated the value of Scotland’s black gold by a whopping THIRTEEN times.

In that doorstep-sized White Paper , which must surely outdo the Brothers Grimm in terms of the fairy-tales it tried to sell us last year on the so-called benefits of independence, Salmond and Sturgeon said that Scotland would be wallowing in up to some £8billion’s worth of North Sea revenues next year. That’s £8,000,000,000.

However, that’s now been shown to be an outrageous overstatement of the truth because as the independent Office of Budget Responsibility now tells us the estimated tax take from the North Sea for that same year is likely to be a much more modest £600 million.

"His performance on BBC Radio 5 live's Pienaar's Politics this morning is a case in point. When asked to explain away the problem of Scotland's £15bn deficit, he referred to a "£30 - 35 billion" saving we could make from central UK spend attributed to Scotland.

This is clearly bunkum of the highest order. The true figure (comparable with the £15bn annual deficit in question and related to the spend categories he cites) is in fact less than £0.5bn. He clearly does have nothing but contempt for the intelligence of listening voters.

"Alex Salmond accepted a taxpayer-funded “golden goodbye” worth nearly £30,000 when he stood down from the Scottish Parliament this year despite remaining an MP and earning £30,000 a year from his radio show, the Telegraph can disclose.
"But Murdo Fraser described his decision to accept the resettlement grant as “utterly shameless” as he earns more than £70,000 as MP for Gordon in Aberdeenshire, acts as the SNP’s foreign affairs spokesman at Westminster and has carved out a lucrative second career in the media.
According to the latest Commons register of interests, updated last week, radio station LBC paid a company Mr Salmond has set up £15,000 plus VAT for the first six months of a weekly half-hour phone-in show he hosts.
His company also receives £5,000 plus VAT quarterly from an Aberdeen-based newspaper for a weekly video column and royalties from a book he published about the 2014 independence referendum campaign. Together, this pushes his total earnings to more than £120,000 per year.
It is not the first time Mr Salmond has attracted controversy for accepting a resettlement grant despite remaining a front-line politician. In 2010 he received £65,000 from the Commons when he stood down as an MP despite also being an MSP and First Minister at the time.

In a TV debate, Mr Salmond said Scotland could vote for independence within two years of a UK Brexit vote. This is complete rubbish , the SNP have no power to call a second referendum without obtaining legal permission to do so via a second Referendum Bill just as it as it did the first time around. Westminster quite rightly would not allow another vote easily when a majority of Scottish voters have already just voted on an issue that both Sturgeon and Salmond said previously was a "once in a lifetime oppertunity". Whether the UK votes to stay in the EU or leave is NOT a reason for another Indy Ref just because the SNP say so, the majority of the nation has already voted on that knowing well that the EU vote was following that and its implications.

Salmonds moaning is for for the usual reasons ...to simply try to cause friction between Scotland and RUK as well as trying to keep himself in the News headlines to appease his own feelings of self -importance.

Alex Salmond has refused to hand back a £65,000 ‘golden goodbye’ he claimed from the taxpayer when he stood down as an MP despite confirming he wants to return to Westminster.

Resettlement grants are supposed to provide financial assistance to MPs leaving politics but Mr Salmond controversially accepted the money from the Commons authorities when he gave up his Banff and Buchan seat at the 2010 general election.

The decision provoked widespread criticism because at the time he was also earning around £57,000 per year as an MSP at the Scottish Parliament and a further £80,000 as Scotland’s First Minister.

Opposition parties last night urged him repay the cash after he confirmed at the weekend that he intends to contest the Gordon seat at Westminster in next May’s general election.

In other examples involving this newspaper, Mr Salmond fought a seven – month battle to prevent details being made public of how he used more than £250 of taxpayers' money to buy a pair of tartan trews.He paid back the money only after this newspaper tabled an FOI request that would have disclosed the purchase.The former SNP leader also used taxpayers’ money to twice go to Scotland’s highest civil court to prevent disclosure of how much his local income tax would cost families.
